Arrival

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide. After a short briefing, you’ll begin your journey southwest toward to Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, descend 600 meters into the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera for a half-day game drive on the crater floor. This natural enclosure is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalos, zebras, hippos, and the rare black rhino, making it one of the few places where you can see the Big Five in a single day. The rich grasslands, acacia forests, and soda lake provide a breathtaking backdrop for wildlife viewing, with over 500 bird species also recorded in the area. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot near a hippo pool.

Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Tanzania, is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, spanning about 260 square kilometers within the greater 8,292-square-kilometer Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Often called “Africa’s Eden,” the crater is home to an extraordinary density of wildlife, including over 25,000 large animals. It shelters all members of the Big Five—with a notable population of black rhinos, large lion prides, elephants, buffaloes, and elusive leopards. The crater’s diverse habitats also support hippos, hyenas, zebras, gazelles, and more than 500 bird species, including flamingos on Lake Magadi. Thanks to its natural enclosure and year-round water supply, Ngorongoro offers some of the most consistent and rewarding game viewing in Africa.
