Gibb’s Farm

Gibb’s Farm is a historic luxury lodge nestled on the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater in northern Tanzania. Established in the early 20th century, this working coffee plantation offers guests a unique blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The property spans over 80 acres of fertile land, featuring lush gardens, organic vegetable plots, and a variety of fruit trees. The main farmhouse, built in 1929, retains its original architecture, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests seeking relaxation amidst nature.

Accommodations at Gibb’s Farm consist of 17 one-bedroom cottages and two family houses, each thoughtfully designed to reflect the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania. The cottages are adorned with hand-crafted furniture, eucalyptus floors, and local artworks, offering a cozy retreat with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, private verandas overlooking the gardens, and wood-burning fireplaces for cooler evenings. The family houses, Bustani and Deutsches, provide spacious living areas and multiple bedrooms, making them ideal for families or groups traveling together.

Dining at Gibb’s Farm is a farm-to-table experience, with meals prepared using fresh produce harvested from the on-site organic gardens. The lodge offers a variety of activities to immerse guests in the local culture and natural surroundings, including guided walks to the nearby Elephant Caves, visits to the Ngorongoro Crater, and interactions with the local communities. For relaxation, guests can indulge in spa treatments inspired by traditional Maasai healing practices or simply unwind by the swimming pool amidst the tranquil gardens.
