Mount Meru

Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, standing at 4,566 meters (14,980 feet), and is located inside Arusha National Park. Often overshadowed by nearby Mount Kilimanjaro, Meru is a spectacular volcanic mountain in its own right, offering a quieter, less crowded trekking experience. The trek to its summit provides breathtaking views, diverse wildlife encounters, and dramatic volcanic landscapes.

Climbing Mount Meru is not only a rewarding adventure but also an excellent way to acclimatize for those planning to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. The route passes through lush forests teeming with colobus monkeys and buffalo, followed by alpine meadows and rocky ridges as you ascend. With its well-maintained trails, ranger-guided hikes, and stunning sunrise views from the summit overlooking Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru offers a unique and enriching trekking experience for both novice and seasoned hikers.
